AGM 2017

From its inception the Waterford Women’s Centre developed a model of participative management and decision-making which has been reviewed and developed on an ongoing basis since 1995. It ensures that women who participate in all areas of the project are involved in the entire decision making. There continues to be a mix of experienced members some of whom have been involved since 1995 and new members who are current participants. The management structure is made up of a number of working groups, which feed into the central core group. Equality and empowerment are its key principles. The core group is made up of two representatives from each working group and includes a Chairperson, Treasurer, Secretary, and committee members. All working groups and core group meet monthly. Participation on the management committee is also recognised as a training ground for participation at a local regional and national level. This has been a very effective method of capacity building and many of our past management members have gone on to represent groups at local regional and national level.
