Bonnet Project

 Starting September 2017 - 2 hours a week x 10 weeks

The Women’s Centre History Project has been ongoing since 2012 with over 150 Waterford Women profiled as part of the Women's Centre photographic and narrative exhibition displayed annually in Waterford City Central Library to commemorate International Women’s Day March 8th.   'The Pink Plaque' campaign aims to increase the number of Waterford Civic Trust blue plaques dedicated to Women in Waterford. 

In September we are introducing the Bonnet Project which will support participant to make a bonnet which will be part of ‘Roses from the Heart’ exhibition in Waterford in 2018.  This project commemorate the numerous Waterford women unjustly transported to Van Diemen’s Land as criminals.This course will support participant to learn about ‘Roses from the Heart’ project, to learn skills necessary to complete a bonnet and develop an appreciation of women’s history.
